5 Mistakes to Avoid While Running a Nail Art Salon Business
To get your brand into the category of the handful of accomplished brands, you must avoid a few mistakes that could hamper your salon business if not avoided. Here we present to you five of them.

In India, salon businesses are flourishing with an annual growth rate of 7.1%. Many entrepreneurs are enthusiastic to venture into salon industry and many have plunged into it already. But only a handful of brands manage to accomplish their identity in this ever-growing industry.

To get your brand into the category of the handful of accomplished brands, you must avoid a few mistakes that could hamper your salon business if not avoided. Here we present to you five of them.

Overpaying Salon technicians

One of the biggest mistakes to avoid at the initial stage of your salon business is overpaying the staff and technicians. A salon business requires an investment of approximately Rs 25 Lakhs to put up the business from scratch. That’s quite a big amount of money and it requires a big amount of revenue to make this investment worth. So, every other expense must be calculative in order to make the business profitable.

Total service payroll for the business must be between 30-35% of total revenue generated. Paying the technicians over the board should definitely be avoided to make a prospering business

Not taking Salon as a Business Venture

Of course you convert an idea into a business only when you’re passionate about the creativity of that business. But once you venture into a business, you have to treat it like a business, not just as a platform to showcase your talent.

In a nutshell, once you enter into the business, start developing your business sense. For instance, once a customer calls for an appointment, sending them follow-up notes would ensure their value in your salon.

Moreover, taking customer feedback through email or contact number also shows how customer retention is important for you as a salon owner.

This kind of business sense is essential to ensure 100% retention in your salon.

Not ensuring the quality of technicians

While setting up a new salon, technicians must be evaluated in terms of quality they provide. Rushing into the hiring process is not beneficial to the business in the long run. Not to forget the fact that these technicians are going to represent your brand. Ensure that the kind of quality that these technicians provide resonates with the vision of your business.

Trying out their services on you is a good way to evaluate their competence.

Not having customer database

Apart from the word of mouth publicity, potential customers can also be attracted by providing them with as much exposure to the brand as possible.

Having a database of the customer can make the process streamlined to carry out marketing strategies such as email marketing, sending newsletters, providing offers and discounts etc.

 Not keeping employees happy

Your employees are valuable to you. They are the ones who actually run your salon. Their happiness at work implies the growth of your business. As it is them who provide services to the customers, their well-being and good-will helps your business to gain customer retention. Try to make peace with your staff, make sure they don’t go taking away your customers from you.
