Barista plans to double its India store count in 3 years
Barista's majority outlets will be started through the franchise route.

Barista is planning to more than double its stores in India to 500. Coffee chain looks at reaching 10,000 outlets for its FMCG offerings in the next two-three years.

The company has also launched chocolates, cookies and coffee powder, expanding its fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) offerings.

Puneet Gulati, CEO of Barista, said, "Coffee consumption in India is very low compared to developed countries. We see tremendous opportunities in the coffee sector here. We are looking at operating 500 outlets and distributing our FMCG offerings through 10,000 outlets in the next 2-3 years."

Barista's majority outlets will be started through the franchise route.

Currently, Barista has more than 200 Barista Cafes and Barista Express kiosks across the country. The coffee chain is expecting its FMCG offerings to account for up to 12% of its profit by fiscal 2020 from about 5% at present.

The company is also eyeing entering into newer geographies, mainly in countries like South Asia and the Middle East.
