Coca-Cola eyes launching its first energy drinks

Coca-Cola is planning to launch its first energy drinks under the Coke brand name. The move will shift the world's largest beverage maker from fizzy sodas.

The timeline for the launch of the drinks is not provided by the company. The new energy drinks will be called "Coca-Cola Energy" and "Coca-Cola Energy No Sugar". These drinks would likely have caffeine from naturally-derived sources and guarana extract.

Presently, Coke is in arbitration with Monster Beverage over the launch of the Coke energy drinks, which Monster says could violate their initial 2015 agreement.

Coca-Cola spokesperson said, "We have submitted the difference in interpretation to an arbitration panel for resolution, which is the mechanism agreed by the Coca-Cola Company and Monster in the original agreements."
