Digital Transformation in Education and Skill Training
In Education, there is no sphere of our lives that is not touched by the Digital Revolution happening around us- Sreenivasm Ramakrishnan

Rapidly evolving technology is transforming the way that knowledge is imparted and absorbed today. The internet now plays a crucial role in the digital educational ecosystem. Talking about the digital transformation in Education, Mr. Sreenivasm Ramakrishnan, Co-Founder, CL Educate, in an interview said, “From the learning perspective, we human beings are not in that space to understand other fellow humans.”

Tell us the significance of Digitisation in the Education space.

Digitisation is talking about learning an individual in anytime and any space. You can learn at your own space. As we go on, it could be very personalized too. Each one of us has a different way of learning. And in this Personalised context of Learning, digitization can play a very significant role. But at the same time we got to be very mind fold about the fact that where do we introduce Digitisation and when.

As a human being we have multiple intelligences we are capable of linguistic, natural, quantitative, analytical and musical. So, there are end number of intelligences which actually takes place in the early stages of a child and it enables a real human to evolve in a first 8 – 14 years.

So if you intrude Digitisation, it can convert human beings into slaves to digital rather than masters to digital. What you see, what you read and what you learn are all different things. It is statistically proven that if you do things 90% you will remember. Similarly, when you see things, you tend to remember only 20% of the things. So, digitization is aiming at seeing until and unless you don’t do. So, we really need to take care of that part in early life of human beings. We need to create problem solvers.

As you said, it is very important to do things, who do you think will be responsible in executing this part: Teachers or the Technology makers?

When we talk about doing things in primary school, I would prefer him doing things. Similarly, in the 8th standard the process would be different. The learning process would be faster than the primary schools. The children will be more engaging with their teachers and will have a successful execution of Technology.

According to me, it all depends on your behavior. Until you create the engagement with fellow learners, it will be very difficult. From the learning perspective, we human beings are not in that space to understand other fellow humans. Today, especially children, have devoted their maximum time in mobile phones, tablets, absorbing in a virtual world. It is indeed questionable that, from all the values that we learn, how much we apply in our day to day lives.”
