E-Commerce Retailers in India Creating New Sale Records During the Diwali Festive Sales: A SEMrush e-commerce retail study

A study by SEMrush on Indian market in the Festive season of Diwali has revealed that e-commerce Retail industry to mark record sales on Diwali 2018 with electronics, apparels, and gifts to have biggest spends. The consumer behavior based on data sourced by SEMrush, a leading digital marketing toolkit, explains that E-commerce retailers will focus more on leading sales categories such as Consumer Electronics, Appliances, Apparel, Home and furniture, Luxury goods, Health, FMCG, and Food and grocery

'Diwali Gifts', 'Diwali Crackers', and 'Diwali Sale' becomes keywords with the largest search volumes of 12100, 9900, and 3600 this September 2018 in the pretext of the Indian festive season. The study has shown that the Indian e-commerce giants are offering heaviest discounts on electronics, fashion, and furniture during the 2018 Diwali sale.

Rohan Ayyar, Regional Marketing Manager India, SEMrush, said, "There are an estimated 500 million internet users in India, and 77.8% of all internet browsing takes place through mobile devices. Spirits are high during the Diwali season and people are quite rightly celebrating, which leads to a great spike in shopping trends. E-commerce retailers are using this opportunity by offering maximum discounts (in the range of 40 to 50%) during Diwali sale across their best selling product lines. By 2025, the percentage penetration of e-commerce in market segments will see a great shift, mainly consumer electronics rising exponentially from 13-15% to 38-42%."
