Google redesigns fitness app for Wear OS, Android, and iPhone
The company’s move aims to take on the upcoming Apple Watch 4, which is launching with a slew of upgrades.

Google has announced the redesigning of Google Fit app for Wear OS, Android, and iPhone. The company’s move aims to take on the upcoming Apple Watch 4, which is launching with a slew of upgrades.

Google Fit was launched in 2014 as a complete heath-tracking platform for Android and Wear OS users to track all of their physical activities and monitor their health. The app has added numerous features over the years.

For redesigning its Google Fit, the company has worked with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The new Google Fit is centered on two simple and smart activity goals, namely Move Minutes and Heart Points.

The Move Minutes tells you that it is important to move and sit less. Whereas, Heart Points give you credits for doing activities that get your heart pumping harder. They are designed to help motivate users to stay active throughout their day with small changes.

Margaret Hollendone, the head of product, Fit Marketing at Google Fit, said, “It takes just 30 minutes of brisk walking 5 days a week to reach the AHA and WHOs recommended amount of physical activity, which is shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, improve sleep, and increase overall mental well-being."
