While F&B is among the most popular and profitable segments in the Indian business ecosystem, the health and wellness factor has drastically invaded this industry, now being an important element of the current food and beverage industry in India.

The revolutionizing health and wellness industry is grabbing people’s attention throughout the country. Once being an alien thing, health and wellness is now among the most popular trend that is revamping the Indian business ecosystem.

According to TechSci Research report, “India Organic Food Market By Product Type, Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 - 2021”, India organic food market is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of over 25% during 2016-2021, due to increasing use of synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides in non-organic products that lead to various health issues such as cancer, obesity and birth defects.

The Skyrocketing Demand for Healthy Foods

F&B is one such sector that experienced drastic transformation after the rise of the health and wellness trend. Restaurant owners now not only want to serve delicious foods but also want to cater them in a hygienic style, contributing towards the healthy lifestyle of customers.

Aaditya Pancharya, Owner, Thank God It’s Healthy says, “The basic thing we do is that we don’t use any kind of daily products like maida, frying, and deep frying. Whatever we are using is completely whole wheat. If we are using oil then that’s only Olive oil and not refined oil. We emphasize a lot on our raw materials. Our whole food is completely calorie counted.”

Moreover, the Indian F&B industry saw several brands introducing health-centric menus that grabbed the health conscious people’s attention in recent years.  Diner’s preferences have led to the introduction of natural ingredients on the menu followed by organic and natural ingredients.

The Health & Wellness Trend is here to Stay

Despite being an alien concept for a very long time, Indians have managed to accept and popularize this trend on a national level. The sudden growth of the health and wellness sector is a living example in today’s time.

Realizing the growth potential within this trend, Indian business owners started experimenting with their original products/services, offering the same old experience to customers along with a healthy touch.
