How Patanjali’s Entry Into The Dairy Sector Is Increasing Business Opportunities In India
Patanjali Aims To Get Rs 500 Crore From Dairy Products In This Fiscal Itself By Targeting 10 Lakh Litre Of Daily Sales

After grabbing a strong market share in the cow ghee segment, Patanjali has recently announced the launch of its dairy products including milk, buttermilk, curd and cheese. In addition to this, the company is also foraying into the frozen vegetable segment.

The brand is not only scaling up its business but also ensuring that quality products are provided to the customers. Patanjali has also provided business opportunities to various sections of society such as dairy farmers, retailers, farmers etc. Here’s how Patanjali is increasing business opportunities in India.

Opportunities For Dairy Farmers & Retailers

Patanjali is not only providing milk to consumers at a lower market price but also business opportunities to dairy farmers.

Its dairy products were manufactured using milk procured directly from farmers in its network.  Thus, in order to provide pure milk to consumers, they have chalked out a procurement scheme for as many as one lakh associate farmers. They will also provide employment to around 5 lakh by next year through various launches.

Ramdev, said, “We will come out with more dairy products like liquid milk. We shall set up 3-4 dairy projects so that farmers can be empowered and people get commodities unadulterated.”

Moreover, Patanjali has tied up with around 56,000 retailers and vendors to supply milk across various states including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Rajasthan.

Encouraging Indian Cow Breeds

While milk from an indigenous cow or pure Indian-breed cow has proven to be healthier, 22 varieties of Indian-breed cows have become extinct in India over the years.  This is due to the lack of encouragement for the commercial production of desi cows.

“We have also partnered with about 100,000 animal dairy farmers to source milk of only Indian breed cows,” commented, Ramdev.

Patanjali is going to promote its milk products from the Indian-based breed of cows only. In addition to this, the company is soon going to launch urea-free cattle feed and feed supplements to support the rearing of Indian-breed cows.

“We are coming out with cattle feed without any urea in it which will be beneficial for cattle,” stated, Ramdev.

Opportunities For Farmers

Apart from the dairy industry, Patanjali is also foraying into frozen greens such as peas, sweet corn, mixed vegetables and French fries. They are going to offer frozen vegetables at half the cost of its competition.

The company will directly compete with giants like Safal and McCain. With Patanjali’s entry into the frozen vegetable industry, farmers are going to benefit heavily.

Patanjali Group would also roll out natural manure which shall contain micronutrient, vitamins etc for the betterment of crops.
