How The Government Is Opening Whole New Opportunities for Economically Backwards
The government of India has introduced 10% quota for economically backward upper castes in government jobs and higher education sector

As the Indian education industry is highly competitive, it is fairly difficult to get admissions in good colleges, unless and until you have got high percentile in the entrance and can afford the fees.

Earlier, many students from economically weaker sections belonging to general category were unable to get admissions in colleges as they may miss the eligibility criteria by few percentiles. Even in employment, economically weaker people need a job to support their families but may struggle to get one due to low marks or low seats. As our reservation system provides quota only to people belonging from lower castes.

Today when a general student who scores more than 95% in his papers\exams is struggling to get a job, as they are competing with an SC\ ST student who has scored 20% or below 20%, just because he is an SC\ST candidate.

So to address this issue, the government of India has introduced 10% quota for economically backward upper castes in government jobs and higher education sector, regardless of their caste or religion.

Major Benefit

Economically backward upper castes or general category, whose family income is under Rs 8 lakh per annum will benefit from this proposed quota reservation. The poor regardless the religion or caste will get the reservation in education and job sector.

Divya Jain, CEO, Safeducate, said "Govt’s decision on 10 per cent reservation for economically backward in general category' is a welcome step in the new year where economically backward students will feel empowered. The economic growth of any country always depends on the well-being of its citizens, and youth is the driving force, should be given adequate career opportunities and avenues of further enhancement. The youth needs to be empowered today with skills which can help them shape their future. India is at the cusp of a socio-economic revolution, brought about by the earlier reforms like Skill India mission by the Govt., and such progressive measures will go a long way in ensuring equitable distribution of job opportunities. The initiatives like NSDC, DDU-GKY, Kaushyala, Mudra Yojana etc are providing the best and the most productive environment for our youth."
