Electric Vehicle Leadership Summit 2022, charging towards an eco-friendly future was held yesterday 16 March 2022 at Hotel Le Meridien Gurugram.

Indian Small Business and Franchise Association (ISFA) ‘India EV Show - Electric Vehicle Leadership Summit and Exhibition, Charging Towards and Eco-Friendly Future’ successfully concluded yesterday 16 March 2022 at Hotel Le Meridien, Gurugram National Capital Territory, India. The show was supported by the Make in India initiative. The Make in India initiative was launched by Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narender Modi in September 2014.

The show was also supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India; Technology Department Board, Department of Science and Technology, MEITY Start-up Hub and The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry in association with Invest Global, Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC), Society of Manufactures of Electric Vehicles (SMEV). Franchise India, India’s leader of the biggest and marquee conferences, awards and exhibitions organised the event.

Indian Small Business and Franchise Association (ISFA) is the voice of Indian Small Business. It has enabled growth of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and the Franchise Industry since 2008. Honourable Union Minister Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Minister of Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (MSME) was the Chief Guest.

Nitin Seth, CEO Mobility of Reliance Industries Ltd was the Guest of Honour. Welcome address was given by Ritu Marya, Editor-in-Chief, Franchise India. Opening keynote address was given by Mohit Yadav, Co-founder, Bolt and special address was given by Sohinder Singh Gill, CEO of Hero Electric India.

The event was power packed with the industry leaders and buck stoppers all geared to debate, discuss and strategize the present, the road map and the future of Electric Vehicle in India. The first panel was ‘Will India be Atmanirbhar Bharat in Electric Vehicle by 2030?’ The panel spoke on India's EV revolution, the numbers by 2030, 30% private cars 70% commercial vehicles 40% buses and 80% two-wheeler, the adoption and promotion and the present numbers that being 8.7 lakh EVs registered across states. The speakers were Abhijeet Sinha, Program Director, Ease of Doing Business/NHEV, Franchise India; Chetan Maini, Co-Founder & Chairman, Sun Mobility; Jyotiranjan Harichandan, Co-founder, Bolt; Nitin Seth, CEO Mobility, Reliance Industries Ltd; Uday rang, Chairman & Founder, Omega Seiki Mobility; Sohinder Singh Gill, CEO, Hero Electric India and Ritu Marya, Editor-in-Chief, Franchise India as moderator.

The second panel was ‘The Required Push, Transiting towards the EV Ambition.’ The speakers highlighted the role of the state and central government, production-linked incentive scheme for the automotive sector, role of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, tiol Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) and the new mobility avenues which could be tapped. The speakers were Akash Gupta, Co-Founder & CEO, Zypp; Arindam Lahiri, CEO, ASDC; Randheer Singh, Director Electric Mobility, NITI Aayog; Sajal Gupta, Secretary, CPOS; Saurav Kumar, CEO & Founder, Euler Motors; Shiva Shailendran Sekar, Director Supply & City Operations, Uber India & South Asia and moderated by Kaushik Madhavan, Vice President Mobility, Frost & Sullivan South Asia.

Anil Srivastava, Former Principal Consultant & Mission Director National Mission; Dinesh Aggarwal, Joint MD, Panasonic Life Solutions; Rahul Gupta from Magenta; Sandeep Bangia, Head EV, Tata Power; Parveen Kumar, Director, Alektrify Private Limited and Sapna Bhardwaj, Editor, Opportunity India & Opportunity Bharat as moderator was part of the third panel ‘Implementation of EV Charging Infrastructure.'

The panel firmly asserted the way forward from charging stations to charging points, how location planning would and land allocation happen. They spoke on connecting to the EV grid, the role of multi-stakeholder such as electricity distribution companies, urban development authorities, charge point solution providers and operators, how charging demand would happen and the models of EV charging.

Partner presentation was presented by Vikas Gupta, Founder & CEO, E-Ashwa; Jitendra Arora, Founder, EV Papa; Kulpreet Sahni, Director, Gkon and Sumit Dhanuka, Founder & CEO, Electriva. ‘Accelerating In The Top Gear: What’s In It For Investors’ was the fourth pael. The panel discussed reasons to invest, FDI norms, show me the money, role of investors to act as a catalyst to the last mile connectivity in India, benefits from financial subsidies and non-financial incentives, how by 2026, India would become the 3rd largest automotive market by volume and how India is the fastest growing economies in the world. The panellist were Arjun Madra, Founder & Business Head, GEV; Arpit Agarwal, Director, Blume Ventures; Nandini Mangeshkar, CEO & CoFounder, Mumbai Angel Networks; Cmdr. Navneet Kaushik, Scientist-F Technology Development Board, DST; Nikhil Aggarwal; Founder & CEO, Grip; Shekhar Mishra, Head Strategy & Corporate Finance, Hero MotorCorp and Shyam Arumugam, Managing Director, Industrial & Logistics Services, Colliers India as moderator.

The fifth panel was ‘The EV Marketplace, Supply Chain and Challenges’. The panel highlighted India’s position as the 5th largest automaker in 2020, what would be the resale value of electric vehicles and is reselling an option for electric vehicles. How the resistance would be broken and how by 2030 the Asia Pacific market is projected to hold the largest market share of US$ 206 billion. The two-wheeler segment is expected to be valued at $2 Billion by 2025 and its penetration of 16% by 2025. Four-wheeler expected to be valued at $1.5 Billion by 2025 and penetration of 5% by 2025. The speakers were Amit Das, Founder, Electric One; Nakul Kukar, Founder, Cell Propulsion; Pankaj Sharma, CoFounder, Log9 Materials; Prerna Chaturvedi, CEO, E-Volet; Rajiv Vohra, Director, Group Landmark; Shaibal Ghosh, CEO, Tesla Power USA and Sapna Bhardwaj, Editor, Opportunity India and Opportunity Bharat as moderator.

‘Auto Loans For EV Consumer Financing’ was the last panel. Moderated by Sauarbh Kumar, Editor, Entrepreneur India the speakers highlighted what’s in it for Bankers and NBFC, bringing EV loan under Priority Sector Lending, the role of banks and lending institutions, who would be the forerunner Banks or NBFC, what is the RBI’s Master Directions, what is not working in the auto retail category loan and the push visible from manufacturers. The panellists were Harshvardhan Sharma, Head Auto Retail, Consulting Practice, NR; Sameer Agarwal, Founder & CEO, RevFin and Sumit Chhazed, Co-Founder, OTO Capital. Ashita Marya, Secretary General, Indian Small Business and Franchise Association (ISFA) gave the vote of thanks.

The summit and exhibition was attended by EV manufactures, battery pack makers, EV motor manufacturers, electronic sensor/lidar/companies, EV design and architect providers, material companies, charging infrastructure companies, speciality chemical companies, power storage companies and new age companies, start-ups and small medium business of India from various states.
