Meta To Skill 1 Crore Small Business Of India By 2024
Meta opened one of its largest office in Asia at Cyber Hub in Gurugram on 8 December 2021, the office will house teams across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp

Meta yesterday opened its new office in Cyber Hub in Gurugram, India. It plans to skill 1 crore small businesses and 2, 50,000 creators over the next three years. The new office was inaugurated by Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

This new office building will house teams from across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. This is one of the largest offices in Asia, Meta formerly known as Facebook aims with this office through its Centre for Fuelling India’s New Economy (C-FINE) it will act as a catalyst to the small medium business and small medium and micro enterprises of India. This office is where C-FINE will be hosted from.


Ajit Mohan, Vice President and Managing Director, Facebook India (Meta) asserted that India is not just the largest country for Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, it’s also where in many ways, but also where the future of the Internet is being shaped. He said Meta sees this office as an opportunity for them to build a space that does not just house our largest team in the country, but will also be a space that deeply engages with the world outside.

This new centre C-FINE aims to be dedicated to training and skilling India’s small and micro business owners, creators, entrepreneurs and local communities to enable them to both fuel and leverage the digital transformation underway in the country.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT said, “Technology is deeply and almost irreversibly changing the trajectory of the country. While there will always be a debate about user harm, and all of the proliferations of problems that are created by the expanding internet, we must focus on keeping the Internet open, safe and trusted and accountable in all ways and for all Indians.”


The minister pointed out that the power of the internet lies in its unmatchable ability to fuel new economies, entrepreneurship and innovation, and in empowering the young minds. He also stressed, “We must mitigate user harm and ensure that the narrative around the internet and technology continues to grow around the positivity that technology brings to the lives of so many people. All big internet companies have tremendous ability to influence the trajectory in good or bad ways for entrepreneurship, for citizens and indeed societies at large, and that technology must be harnessed for good.”
