Micromax invests in Bengaluru-based fitness app HealthifyMe
Leading handset player Micromax Informatics Limited has announced its presence in digital fitness space by making a strategic investment in Bengaluru-based digital fitness provider HealthifyMe.

Micromax Informatics Limited has announced that it has made a strategic investment in Bengaluru-based health and fitness start-up HealthifyMe. The latter specialises in offering mobile-focused services to motivate people towards healthy behaviour.

The investment is part of Micromax’s vision to create a mobile ecosystem that brings unique and innovative technologies from across the globe to its consumers.

Commenting on the matter, Rahul Sharma, Co-founder, Micromax said, “The world is moving to smart devices and through these strategic investments, we ensure that our consumers are enjoying services that enrich their experience. We believe that India’s preventive healthcare needs transformational technologies. With our investment in HealthifyMe, we aim to create a technology platform to address the consumers’ wellness needs. We are very impressed with HealthifyMe’s team and product, and we look forward to work closely with them to build world class products for Micromax consumers.”

He further added, “We want to invest in companies that are providing revolutionary solutions for our customers and give them scale and access to our ecosystem.”

Micromax has also set up an M&A team, headed by Kumar Shah, which has been actively sourcing and working with start-ups across major technology markets such as Silicon Valley, Europe, Israel and India to bring in the best products and capabilities.

Speaking on the new association, Tushar Vashisht, Co-founder and CEO, HealthifyMe, said, “We are on a mission to Healthify India and are excited to partner with Micromax looking at the possibilities they bring to the table. Together, we will help our customers eat better, get fitter and fight lifestyle issues effectively.”

Prior to this, HealthifyMe has partnered with Godrej Nature’s Basket, Manipal Hospitals, Medanta - The Medicity, Apollo Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Endocrinology (ACODE) and TheHealthSite.com to lead India on a journey to a healthier tomorrow with their HealthifyIndia or SwasthBharat campaign.

The industry initiative signals an ambitious plan to move a million Indians to embrace a healthy lifestyle by the year end and to scale that number up to 1 crore in the next three years.
