UNICEF, Oxford team up to train scribes on health reporting
UNICEF India, Oxford University and George Institute of Global Health, UK have come together to develop a programme for media reporting on public health with a focus on routine immunisation.

UNICEF India, Oxford University and George Institute of Global Health, UK have come together to develop a programme for media reporting on public health with a focus on routine immunisation, states a PTI report.

In a joint venture, UNICEF India along with the two British universities is developing certified critical skills appraisal programme to address the gap in media coverage on public health programmes.

The programme will be used as a starting point to develop a module which will then be offered to journalists as a 'certification program'.

Chief of UNICEF Rajasthan office, Samuel Mawunganidze, told that pre and post module on certified programme development workshops are being organised across the country.

The venture would stress on the need to start immunisation and vaccination programme as a mission like Polio eradication program, said Kannan Krishnaswamy, communications manager of George Institute for Global Health India.

About 35 mediapersons, media educators and medical professional across the state participated the consultations in Jaipur on Friday and shared their experiences for the development of the program.
