Why E-learning Franchises Have Great Scope In Rural India
The e-learning sector is expected to reach US$ 1.96 billion by 2021 with around 9.5 million users

Smartphones, Tablets, iPads, Laptops, social media, apps are a part of our daily lives now. Technology is touching every aspect of society and changing it dramatically. Education is the most tapped industry by innovators and technology, giving the boost to the e-learning industry.

E-learning is an effective tool for the development of the educational sector in India, especially in rural India. There are more than one million rural schools among 6,38,000 villages in India, where there are inadequate education facilities.  Thus, there is huge scope for e-learning franchises to mark their presence in rural India and not only gain profit but also contribute towards the upliftment of the society. Below are the reasons why e-learning franchises have great future in rural India.

Infrastructure & Affordability

India’s education sector is being revolutionised by rapid increases in Internet penetration and the availability of low-cost mobile devices. In comparison to brick and mortar schools, e-learning is much more affordable for students in rural India. As the major reason which restricts them from attaining an education is the affordability factor.

E-learning franchises can get more enrolments from these areas than urban ones, where people have the capital and good education institutes.

Government Support

To increase the literacy rate of the country, the government of India has come up with many schemes and policies. Witnessing the potential of the e-learning sector, Digital India campaign was launched with the aim to benefit education by bringing various important educational elements together.

Huge Market

The number of Indian Internet users is expected to reach 250 million indicating the huge market potential for e-learning. With companies rolling out cheaper smartphones and low internet data rate, it is bridging the digital gap between rural and urban India. Thereby, opening up enormous opportunities for e-learning franchises

Naveen K M, Managing Director, Trio World Academy, said, “Online learning programmes open up opportunities for children from weaker socio-economic communities, who possess limited access to learning resources i.e. teachers, textbooks and infrastructure. It connects them to a global network of online learners, exposing them to new perspectives. The ideas that they receive, will not be limited by the number of heads in one classroom.”

Higher Education

While there are schools available for primary and K-12 education, but there are very few good colleges in rural India. Students usually move out to study in metros, if they can afford, to continue their higher education. The unfortunate ones have to drop out due to less capital.

But, e-learning franchises gives them the opportunity to attain their higher education degree from the comfort of their home and low-cost.
