How JNU Is Providing Global Opportunities Via “Korea Corner”
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Korea Foundation along with JNU opened India’s first Multi-Purpose Cultural and Public Information Centre on Korea.

Everyone remembers the viral YouTube star Psy and his hit song ‘Gangnam Style'. That was the beginning of the rising Korean wave.  Indians are now warming up to Korean dramas and pop culture. They are being introduced to Korean culture through K-dramas and slowly became eager to learn more about their culture and Korea in specific.

On the mark of the first day of Hangeul (Korean alphabet) day celebrations, The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has inaugurated state-of-the-art “Korea Corner”. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Korea Foundation along with JNU opened India’s first Multi-Purpose Cultural and Public Information Centre on Korea.

Popularizing Korean Culture

To spread more information about Korean culture, JNU has provided the space and the Korean Embassy extended support in terms of interior designing, new equipment as well as a variety of resource materials on Korea.

The Korea Corner will also enable JNU students, faculty members and anyone interested in knowing and learning about Korea to have cultural and educational experiences.

Along with demonstrating Korea's cultural artefacts, photos, traditional costumes and musical instruments. The centre will also provide research materials, academic books, audio-video contents, etc.

Korean-Indian Relation

India-Korea relations have been relatively strong. The collaborative effort of the Korean Embassy will help in strengthening it. The Korea Corner will be like 'Little Korea' in JNU campus and will serve as a popular destination to experience elements of both modern and traditional Korea.

Korean Ambassador Shin Bong-kil said, "The Korean Government has made utmost efforts to strengthen public diplomacy in India in tune with emerging Korea-India relations.”
