Founded in 1901, Orkin has more than 100 years of experience in pest control services and are leaders in the industry, specialising in protection against common pests, including termites, rodents and insects. Orkin is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rollins, Inc., (NYSE: ROL), headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. In an exclusive chat with Franchise India, Tom Luczynski, Group’s Vice President that oversees Orkin’s global expansion and development spoke about the recent appointment of their first franchise partner in India.

Can you tell us about your recent and very first franchise partner appointed in India.

Dinkar Chellaram is our franchisee in India.  His family business is headquartered in Bangalore.

Are you planning to expand in India only in the pest control sector or other verticals too?

We are expanding in the pest control sector only.

Do you also plan to expand into markets like Srilanka that have high prospects and opportunities?

Yes, we believe there is a need for our pest control services throughout the world.  We are focused on expanding in Asia.

What do you think is the best aspect of franchising in India?

We believe that India has a great future socially and economically and will develop into a major economic force in the world.

What qualities do you seek in a partner?

We seek long term franchise partners with a high degree of integrity.  Previous business experience is a must, but we are confident in our award-winning training programs that elevate our franchise partners in a short time to enable them to deliver world class pest control services.

Could you comment on the pest control Industry globally?

Pests are everywhere, and we pride ourselves on our service offerings that aim at protecting the health of citizens around the globe, and we also play a major role in protecting the food supply from the dangers and infestations of pests. 

Throw some light on your expansion plans in 2015-16 globally.

Today, we operate in over 30 countries. We have accelerated our expansion plans and would expect to be in over 50 countries in the next few years.
