Why Institutions Are Focusing On Setting Up Academy Of Leadership

Education industries are welcoming various trends, which are transforming the education industry. One such trend is the introduction of various programs which are supposed to enhance and nurture the students opting for several courses. These programs are expanding their reach to higher levels like colleges and universities, marking their presence in the education industry.

Recently, IIT Kharagpur announced that it’s going to establish an ‘Academy of Leadership’ which is assumed to develop innovative programs. It is going to combine the curriculum in science and engineering with philosophy and liberal arts.

Increasing the scope in attaining knowledge

The organization is experimenting with bringing out the best by combining different curricula at IIT Kharagpur. Experts say that it is going to add upon the knowledge and skill of engineers, which could turn out to be a morale booster.

Professor P P Chakrabarti, Director, IIT KGP shares, “This academy will be based not only on scientific and technical training but the teachings of ancient philosophies, reasoning, systems engineering and the past successes and failures of humanity."

Nurturing the young guns

Programs like this are believed to provide students with a new set of skills, a beneficiary in their career. Realizing its importance, IIT KGP initiated and adopted ‘Academy of Leadership’ programs which states to train and increase their student’s growth, academically and non-academically.

He expressed hope that this initiative would place students of IIT KGP on the fast track as creative problem solvers and inspiring leaders, both in their professional careers and within their communities.

Creating a vibrant reputation

Any organization would love to hear their own students making a great impact on the national and international level. IIT KGP is among those institutions.

"Under this academy, programmes would be developed to nurture leadership qualities in individuals and organizations, enable leaders of various walks and segments of life to share their perspectives... making it a vibrant self-sufficient one with a global reputation," Chakrabarti said.
