US headquartered quick service restaurant chain Subway has launched its 300th outlet in India. The new outlet opened via franchise route is located at the Mumbai airport and it will offer fresh and healthy food options. Keeping in mind the local culture, Subway has customised a specific menu sans beef and pork and also has vegetarian restaurants in Noida, Mumbai and Jalandhar. It is planning to launch two more such locations in Gurgaon and Amritsar. The brand currently present in more than 50 cities will focus on tier-II and tier-III cities. It aims to strengthen its pan India presence by having 700 more outlets in the country to achieve its target of operating 1,000 outlets in India in the next five years.
Subway is known for its low start-up cost, simple operations, flexible floor plans and worldwide brand recognition, making it appealing to potential franchisees.
