Speaking on its expansion plans, Ranjit Talwar, Country Head, Subway Systems India Pvt Ltd, says, “Subway India opened its first restaurant in New Delhi in 2001. Today, the brand has 540 plus restaurants across 70 Indian cities. Given the promising growth outlook of the Indian QSR sector as enumerated by various research entities and industry bodies, Subway India looks forward to strengthening its presence in existing 70 cities and enter new markets like Aligarh, Ambala, Guntur, Rohtak, Vijayawada this year.”
The sandwich chain has a strong presence in all the major Indian metros and is aggressively planning to widen its reach by exploring development opportunities in tier II and tier III cities. Subway India has integrated local taste and flavours in its menu offerings and introduced an entire range of localised products for Indian consumers. Keeping ethnic preferences in mind, the brand has also opened purely vegetarian Subway restaurants in select locations. Space permitting, the vegetarian and non-vegetarian counters are also kept separate.
